Insomnia Coffee Co

by Mike on May 20, 2010

How do you know when a coffee place is popular?  Looking through the reviews for Insomnia Coffee Company on Yelp! I found this:

My friend is so obsessed with this place! She loves it so much that she and her husband even got married here last summer! – Tami H. 4/21/2010

I really don’t know if I need to go on.  What better testimonial is there than that? Fine, here are some other great review online:

Cami H. – I love you Insomnia!

David F. – Great Coffee, Happy Peppy People, Great Atmosphere!

Ondra W. – I love this coffee place! The staff is friendly and the coffee is fantastic. I love this place because they practice green business, buy locally and support local businesses, artists, etc.

Lauren – My bf and I stumbled upon Insomnia about two months ago and can’t get enough! Their coffee is phenomenal and I am extremely picky when it comes to my coffee!

Becky – I ADORE this place! I cannot begin to express my love for Insomnia.

Three friends launched this Insomnia Coffee Company in 2007.

They built this home-away-from-home themselves from the ground up, painting the walls, installing the pine flooring, and gathering furniture and equipment.  Grand Opening, April 13th, 2007.  With no employees, the trio ran Insomnia Coffee Company the first six months by themselves, each pulling 100 hour weeks.  As business grew, so did the Friends’ vision, adding employees and business hours…and we continue to grow

And they are growing.  They are currently working on a new location in the popular Tanasbourne area on the corner of Cornell and Amberbrook next to Bugatti’s.  Follow their site to stay updated on their new location.

They serve Sleepy Monk Coffee out of Cannon Beach specializing in Organic Coffee.  They have a wide range of coffees and teas.  Of course they have some great food.

They have music on the weekends and have even had an Open Mic night.  Those things scare me because I have a phobia of being dragged on stage for some reason.

Coconut Cafe

by Mike on May 17, 2010

All of us at the Coconut Cafe, owners and staff alike , strive daily to bring you the authentic coffee house experience. Hand crafted latte and espresso drinks are our standard.

Reading the reviews online show that the Coconut Cafe has won over the hearts of the locals making this truly a neighborhood place.  They wanted it to be a place for neighborhood eats, treats, chat and hand crafted artisan coffee; it seemed to work. They feature live and local music Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, as well as a local artist gallery.

David – The Coconut Cafe is great and I highly recommend it! The coffee is great and so are their Peruvian Empanadas. They have live music several times a week as well, which is excellent! I love the intimate setting. The best thing about this place is that they have turned the local neighborhood more into an actual community. It is the perfect place to meet new interesting people and strike up great conversations.

Robert - The owners make their own food every day. The coffee is good, the tea is fresh and the custom/specialty drinks are creative! Aside from the good food and service, the cafe itself is comfortable both inside and out. You feel like you want to stay a while when you go.‎

Nader – What I like about the Coconut is the warm and friendly (and quite talkative) owner, and the comfy and remarkably spacious interior. It almost feels like you’re in a friend’s living room, and the colors and artwork are very pleasant.

Green Plow Coffee Roasters

by Mike on May 10, 2010

Green Plow Coffee Roasters is the only locally owned coffeehouse in Redmond with an in-house  roastery!

Green Plow Coffee Roasters is located in the heart of downtown Redmond, Oregon serving as a living room for the community.  Go in, grab a cup of their house roasted coffee, and talk with friends, old and new.

Green Plow roasts coffee fresh in our shop on a Probat L12. As Volkswagen owners, we appreciate its simple German engineering.  It’s important to us to find coffees that not only taste great, but that are ethically produced. We also look for coffees that have been grown with environmentally friendly methods. Watch here for updates! [click to continue…]
