NW Wine Co just bought two Willamette Valley Vineyards for $3.87 million. In addition to their 185 acres in McMinnville, they purchased 385 acres of Pinot noir and pinot gris plantings near Monmouth.
According to an interview in the Portland Business Journal, the purchase was to secure land for their exponential growth. NW Wine Co currently is the No. 2 in state for planted vineyards, just behind Duck Pond Cellars.
There was a big rumor going around that somebody from California was going to buy land. That certainly made us more aware, but we had been working on our transaction already.
