I love finding places like Beveland Street Coffee House, the ones that are tucked away and aren’t on a high traffic street with tons of visibility. The dark woods and decor give it that warm cozy feeling, well, the fireplace helps too.
They serve Caffé D’arte is located in Seattle and has played an important role in spreading the traditions of Italian coffee world wide.
Beveland Street has a bevy of drinks. (See what I did there?) There is of course coffee, tea, and hot chocolate but they also have wine, beer, juices, and soda, which seems to be rare. Sometimes I am in the mood for a soda more than anything else while everyone else has something hot.
They have have quite a food selection, ten different sandwiches, five salads, pastries (gluten free too), great breakfast sandwiches and something called the triple heaven brownie I think, I had to avert my eyes before I fell into the abyss.
UPDATE: The Caffe Autogrill closed last week. I might have been there on their last day. Sad.
A friend and I went cafe hopping and this was our last stop. I found Caffe Autogrill while driving around trying to scout new places and was eager to check it out. It stood out immediately. I was pleasantly surprised to find it had two levels. Espresso machines and blenders can get noisy so to have separate floor with just tables and chairs made it very quiet.
It’s nestled in the Hillsdale area just off the main road. It’s setting, location, and overall layout make for a great quaint neighborhood coffee shop. They serve Stumptown coffee, breakfast food, panini sandwiches, soups and salads.
Open most days from 6am to 6pm you should check them out.
First I want to say I love the logo. Heart Coffee Roasting could have easily went with a heart symbol but they didn’t, this feels like you would get good solid coffee. They just celebrated it’s first year in business.
Heart opened its doors on October 20th, 2009. We are a young micro roasting company. We aim to bring the community the best possible coffee experience through exceptional service as well as through our dedication to quality. Along with the overall cafe aesthetic our roasting style comes from a balance of Scandinavian and Portland coffee cultures. We strive to purchase our green coffee according to the harvest cycles of each producing country. Our green coffee is stored on site in a humidity and temperature controlled area in order to best represent the integrity of the bean.
As you may have read my Dad had a heart attack and then had double bypass surgery so I made quite a few trips to Salem. I always keep my eye open for some new place to feature on Pouregon and this one stood out.
There are plenty of “shack” looking drive thru coffee shops but I have been hesitant to feature them because they are nondescript, boring. But a big red double-decker bus? Pretty cool. I didn’t have the time to stop by and really check them out so I made a quick call.
Coffee In Motion has been around for 11 years and just a couple of miles off of I-5 at exit 253. The owner had the plan for double decker bus originally. The first person he talked to wanted too much for it and, much to my surprise, he was able to stumble upon one in Salem. I have only seen one double-decker bus in Portland in all of my time here. How do they even get over here?
You know the hoopla about Starbuck’s adding a 31 ounce coffee? Amatuers! Coffee in Motion has a 44 ounce coffee! Drving down to Corvallis or Eugene for a game, heck going to Seattle? You’ll get there on this monstrosity. You may need an automatic because I don’t know what cup holder will keep it.
Coffee in Motion serves Millars coffeewhich is just above the Oregon border, kind of like a cousin so they’re still family. They do their best to serve local products like Tillamook and Croissant and Company. The have iced drinks and 30 sugar free flavors. And, pretty smart being near a hospital and a college, they’re open 24 hours.
